No Place Like Homechurch
Healing the World through House Churches
Across every society and language, “home” has always been the core environment where nations and cultures are born and built. It’s where humanity is molded and launched. Language and character, attitudes and perspectives… are all incubated in the intimate womb of hearth and home. Both good and bad foundations can be laid there. Then for the rest of our lives, we either build on the positive footing that was set, or we struggle to demolish the bad habits birthed on the home front.
A Christian household is the primary global crossroads where the Lord Jesus can bring daily healing and growth to families, marriages, communities, societies, and to his Church… all happening on the same living room carpet.
No Place Like Homechurch is not a course about “meetings in houses.” It’s about bringing the life of Jesus off of the stage and into our family room. It’s an opportunity to focus on the uniquely irreplaceable environment of church-in-the-home, where families and neighborhoods can gather frequently, locally and intimately, in a way that is Bible-based and Christ-focused. During the course, we’ll consider…
How might it revolutionize our world if every Christian home served as
the active daily “headquarters” of the Body of Christ?
Are there ways to dedicate our homes as sacred spaces with
an atmosphere of joyful celebration, and without formula and legalism?
Can Christians stay engaged in discipleship if their only deep experience of the kingdom of God is as a spectator in a crowd for 90 minutes once a week?
How can larger community-wide gatherings and smaller in-home gatherings
uniquely complement each other?
To what extent were houses the setting for the earthly ministry of Jesus?
What valuable keys can we learn from how Christ inaugurated
the Church of the first-century?
How can we encourage “the Living Word to live in our living rooms”?
How might I start, host or maintain a homechurch, without formal training?
How can every believer’s imperfect home be a life-changing harbor for family,
church & culture?
